The Prodigal Trashcan

Thursday is trash day for us, so Wednesday night Dan took the trashcan out to the curb. It was really windy that night and a bunch of the trashcans got blown around down our street. Thursday morning I went out for a run and, before leaving, wanted to bring the trashcan back to it’s spot by our back door… only I couldn’t find it. There was 927 laying on it’s side on the street and 923 in the dog poop zone, but no 925. So, I went for my run and on my way back did a few laps around our block looking at all the trashcans laying on the sidewalk and the street, but none of them were ours. Then, I started looking at trashcans that had been put back in their place to see if someone might have picked up the wrong one, but still no 925. So I gave up and went inside. Dan had run out and came back a little while later wondering where it was as well. So, today, we went to go to run some errands and looked at all the trashcans by the mailboxes (which is on the other block), but the dang thing is just gone. Gone. Could it really have blown that far away? And if not, who would want our trashcan? And… why us? Why not take 927 (they’re kind of jerks anyway)? Aye aye aye… anyway if you see it, please roll it back to the spot by our door. Our kitchen trashcan is starting to overflow.
