Stuart Hall and Media

18 Nov

I came across this video the other day.  It’s a portion of a lecture of Stuart Hall, said to be the founder of Cultural Studies.  Here he describes the different types of representations in the media.  I thought it was interesting.

I also found this course on MIT’s opencourseware site that I want to “take.”  I’m going to work on that.

After November, when I’m done with National Novel Writing Month, I’d be all for trying out this online course thing. That one sounds awesome. Would you want to try to do it together (at the same time) so that we could talk to each other about it?
I have no idea when you’d have time, but let me know what you think.
